About me
I'm driven by the desire to understand how our identities are socially shaped and weaponized, and how we can use storytelling, media, narrative therapy, and AI to reclaim control over our life stories and build meaningful connections.
Hey! My name is Yegor Mostovshikov. For the last 20+ years, I've been working at the intersection of journalism, media, therapy, and technology, exploring the stories we tell ourselves and kill for. I dedicated my life to storytelling, and I believe it can be used to help knowledge workers navigate identity wars & crises by rewriting their story.
I spent a significant portion of my career writing about polarization, the Russian government's crimes, reporting on social degradation, politics, street protests in Moscow, Kyiv, and Cairo, corruption, police violence, human rights abuses, and crimes against cultural heritage & art. I'm a former Visiting Fellow at The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna, with the Milena Jesenská Fellowship for Journalists.
I'm a 3x founder. The media company I bootstrapped before going bankrupt during the pandemic included three digital publications, a podcast network, a book and magazine publishing division, and a branded content agency with an annual revenue of $2.5 million.
Since 2022, I've been not only observing but also searching for actionable ways to help people reclaim control of their lives in times of uncertainty.
I've also launched a storytelling online school and a support group service (non-operative), and produced and directed documentaries. I've helped hundreds of writers and creators find their voice. I produced and guided six printed books and two video games. You can learn more about some of them here.
Since 2023, I have counseled as a narrative therapist and storytelling coach.
Some numbers:
- 1500+ non-fiction pieces written and edited
- 500+ students taught in my storytelling courses
- 300+ hours of support group events hosted
- 330+ hours of personal narrative therapy practice completed
- 4 documentaries produced
- 2 video games launched (PEPPERED is critically acclaimed)
Stories are my passion, and I believe they can help us navigate the mess our world has become. So I'm always happy to chat and be of help.
